Tata Steel has partnered with CII for the second edition of RAILCONNECT Conference that was scheduled over a virtual platform on Sept 8, 2020. The key focus of the conference was on leveraging partnerships for Atmanirbhar railways. The keynote address was given by Mr Piyush Goyal, Minister of Railways and Minister of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. Government of India’s focus on upgrading the infrastructure and announcing investor-friendly policies have put the railways on the reforms track, led by a series of initiatives spanning modernization, expansion, exploration of alternate financing sources and the adoption of smarter technologies among many other thrust areas. With a focus on Atmanirbhar Bharat, Railways could be an excellent opportunity for the private infrastructure developers, Indian Manufacturers & MSME to be a part of the overall value chain required for a truly modernized railway system, which is safe, environment friendly and sustainable in the long run.

T V S Shenoy (TVS), Chief of the New Materials Business, Tata Steel had also participated in the panel discussion on “Railway Modernization: Role of Rolling Stock” which focussed on Modernizing the Indian Railway System through Smart Manufacturing by creating a technology-oriented partnership with private organizations and MSMEs.
